Don’t Tell Me About Sacrifice

 sailor-671187

Don’t tell me about sacrifice
I don’t need your hypocritical words
A notion merely secondhand
A duty you constantly deferred
With my family soundly asleep
I’ll carry my seabag back to the dock
Taking with me their prayers
Never survive without them – my rock

Shadows Surround Us From The Candle’s Flickering Light

wine-1267427.jpg

Shadows surround us from the candle’s flickering light
Once again we are together, another perfect night
In from the open window blows the cool summer air
Clothes we have discarded hang carelessly on a distant chair
Side by side we have fallen asleep only covered by a thin sheet
Our bodies rise and fall together until the new morning we will greet

Hell Can Wait, For I’ve Got More To Do

sleeping-1159279

Hell can wait, for I’ve got more to do
Waking to black birded cries this morning
Sore eyes littered with midnight dreams
Waking to a shattered world without warning
Knowing more than any man should know
Wanting to save you, but I don’t have the right
Hushed voices upon my broken doors
Please don’t question my fragile might
Pushing off from your delicate terrors
This world has never been so murky & deep
But I will try again to rest my weary head
I will try again to fall peacefully asleep
