Reading The Braille Edition Of A Topless Sextant

Reading the Braille edition of a topless sextant
Borderland sailors lost again above the tree line
Vicious handwriting left you pretty & potent
Dainty cherries plucked from Guerneville’s vine
Coffeehouse grunge wiped clean in your hands
Uninitiated lives failing to stand so fast & sure
Entitlements marked against your vacant lands
Discarded notes burned to return fresh & pure
Mermaids & alehouses swollen in a vamp rain
Self-imposed heartbreak mistaken for the blues
Trying to remember names of those who remain
Cautiously awaiting your new high-heeled muse
Writing a memoir regarding a nurse he skirted
Astral units left you with dingy change to spare
Noting the good stock with which she flirted
Winning the hearts, but the minds did not care
All your dreams left tied to the evening bedpost
Those rosy cheeks, offering you up a silent peek
Locked her in the room, staying white as a ghost
Mocking all the love & affection you still seek
Fingers toy with the scarf tied around her waist
The bard’s meaning left bewildering & obscured
Untied & left it hanging, waiting for your taste
Knowing your future holds your heart immured
Dedicated your words to the love of a woman
Sailing away from her, wiping away your tears
Too many free nights with the dark star to damn
Return trip bound by the change of distant years
Pressed into servicing you under the water tower
Releasing me to retreat & now be fallen asunder
Bathed atop the crow’s nest in a summer shower
Her loose dress allowed an easy chance to plunder
Busted in a brothel by shipmates on shore patrol
Her liberty cuffs showing us a full view of the bay
Wharf rats continuing down the hill out of control
Your Elizabethan Towers blocking the dreary day
Frayed hair in a yellowish hue flowing out & over
Dry rot found along our real estate, but I digressed
That Golden Gate shadowing my four-leaf clover
I’m lucky enough to find you had freshly undressed
Pirates full of malarkey & rum out in the shipyards
It was rot gut that ruined me & not rotten planks
He returned to port to find her old life now charred
Rising sun shines upon new beauty & I give thanks

Drifting Into A Summer’s Day

hammock-425773.jpg

Drifting into a Summer’s day
Trying to settle into the shade
This heat rose early & won’t quit
Hoping it won’t cause my soul to fade
I’m sipping a cold one in my hammock
Thinking of that woman who’s soul is kind
Makes her embed into my heart
& I can’t get her off my weary mind
I remember walking along the bay
Tossing coins wrapped in wishes on the pier
Holding her hand, forever to be Homeward Bound
Only when you lose someone so, do you know fear
But hope & faith can make miracles happen
If you believe strong enough to persist
To be forever within her passionate grip
To taste her primal fire, my sole reason to exist

Once Again Fog Hides The City Away

san-francisco-733490.jpg

Once again fog hides the City away

No worries about being burnt by the sun

Another beautiful morning by the Bay

My legs have grown tired, I can no longer run

I need to rest down by the docks

I’m here to start a new life by the coast

No longer shall live life by the clocks

Life in the desert was only tolerable at most

I’m looking for a woman with golden hair

I wish to rest my head where I no longer weep

She said she’d be waiting out there

Will I ever get any of that peaceful sleep

I’m Not Worried About Their Opinions

persons-768683.jpg

I’m not worried about their opinions
I always try to consider the source
They yap away all day long
But they say nothing with any force
They’re stooges of no consequence
I’d rather focus all my time on you
Let them squeal & bay all they want
We’re busy living a righteous life so true

Parallel Parking In Time

Parallel parking in time
You’ve got me braked on a hill
With a view of the bay
Though I think I’ve had my fill
No longer will I remain here
Must move to the forest floor
The city has shifted
Don’t feel the magic anymore

Counting All My Cufflinks

feet-984260

Counting all my cufflinks

You tied my perfect tie

Another night by the bay

Lost within the foggy sky

Seeming to float as you walk

Affection rose by a mere kiss

Evening air cool upon your soul

Never knew we could be like bliss

Your dress flailing behind

Setting down an opaque trail

Everything a dream could be

Forever wrapped by the sail
