Caught Up In The Freedom Of Expression

sea-1929558.jpg

Caught up in the freedom of expression
Illuminance firmly held on your body
My thoughts drift beyond the surface
Tinged with the abstract & the naughty
The truth becomes cloudy & distant
But my mind isn’t something to seduce
Isolation of the heart lingers long after
Passion doesn’t lead to an easy truce
There’s a loneliness to be found
When you’re face-first within the squall
The world falls away, folding into itself
You’re feeling small, almost abysmal
But tomorrow will always return
I know someday I’ll find your face
They can’t keep us away forever
I’ll secure you in a steady embrace
Dreams may confuse, but I’m steadfast
Ashore before the death of the sun
The world’s filled with tribulations
But at the end of it all, there’s still only one

Trading Euphemisms In The Dark

woman-683334

Trading euphemisms in the dark
Blankets piled high on the bed
Finding warmth between ourselves
Love inhabits where fear can’t tread
Sheets getting tangled in our bodies
Chorus of breathing getting thick
Cherishing & celebrating each moment
Grateful she still let’s me dip my wick

Preparing For The World

event-907245.jpg

Preparing for the world
Packing all the essential gear
Not to be outdone by hate
We laugh & toast in the face of fear
This life is our only Earthly chance
I choose to live with joy & elation
The smiles & righteous conduct will outlast
Our bodies in the hearts of our relations

I’m Not Feeling Myself These Days

young-man-1515412.jpg

I’m not feeling myself these days
My body creaking when I walk
I grow tired as soon as the sun sets
The youth no longer listen when I talk
Life hasn’t changed; I’ve grown old
I’m no longer the freshest young man
But do not underestimate this mind
For it’s still spry & I’ll always be the Pan

Shadows Surround Us From The Candle’s Flickering Light

wine-1267427.jpg

Shadows surround us from the candle’s flickering light
Once again we are together, another perfect night
In from the open window blows the cool summer air
Clothes we have discarded hang carelessly on a distant chair
Side by side we have fallen asleep only covered by a thin sheet
Our bodies rise and fall together until the new morning we will greet

Let Me Paint Your Lips Red

redlips.jpg

Let me paint your lips red
The quiet pampering into the night
Let me whisper your possibilities
Popping each button in the flattering light
Silhouettes upon the fresh bedsheets
Mere ideals of what we might be
My body aching for another touch
Your kiss; the only thing to set me free

I Won’t Judge You

john-work-garrett-library-211375.jpg

I won’t judge you for your past
I don’t care how your body looks
Inward – we all contain equal souls
We can all absorb the beauty of books
Go read! Fitzgerald, Kerouac, Twain
Emerson, Rand, Tolstoy, Hemingway
Thoreau, Dostoyevsky, Neruda, Yeats
Great words are forever here to stay
It is solely up to you
To build up your literary wealth
But I will constantly judge you
For the contents of your bookshelf
