Finding Glory In The Faces Of God’s People

Finding glory in the faces of God’s people
The creation of beauty is obviously Heaven sent
There’s no need to shy or even look away
A precious gift; There’s no need to repent
Our daily lives are usually a dire struggle
It’s plain as day, something we can all be sure
So much ugliness, it’s okay to give yourself a break
If love is fatal, let it be known, I don’t want the cure

Passion Failing All Around Me

Passion failing all around me
We’re all exposed on the battleground
Hearts breaking wide open
Sketchy footing, leaving the night unsound
Cautiously looking out into the world
I’m safely behind doors & my windowpane
A vicious society who always destroys
Forcing love to wither & die in vain
Cherishing the woman I’ll forever desire
Who wears my great-grandmother’s ring
Upon us to ensure it doesn’t happen here
With her in my arms, I’ll always I’ll cling

I’m Not A Lot Of Things

free-1785964_1920.jpg

I’m not a lot of things
I know most of my fatal flaws
Yet I still antagonize
Not going to live by your hateful laws
I’m my own man, wild & free
I’m irritating to those still bound
A glimpse of what is beyond
Break loose, you can still come around

Scars & Flaws Mark Our Character

Scars & flaws mark our character
There are no monuments upon the sea
With no footprints in the waves
We cling to adventure in order to be free
But we all too soon grow old
The cold days along the Scottish coast
Searching for the proper port
To be comfortable with our dubious host
These days we’re looking to break even
I feel each of my years in my bones
I embrace my Saint Brendan’s medal
Within the night shift I can quietly atone
Remembering the light within her eyes
Reflecting up into the midnight’s moon
There’s a lot we might misconstrue
We’re stained, but maybe we can learn the tune

Returning To Simplicity

aptos-296159.jpg

Returning to simplicity
Tossing out these fledgling fates
Stunted growth increasing these days
Hindered by our technological rates
I don’t want to watch my soul wilt
I want to break free & soak up the sunshine
I’m through with this culture of victims
You’ll hear the dial tone & know its mine

I Don’t Know What They Expected

I don’t know what they expected
That they’d wake up & I’d not be me
That I’d forget all truth & reality
That I’d give up trying to be free
They must not realize who I am
Their feeble minds will never comprehend
Once my ire is aroused
I am unwilling to surrender, break or bend

Sunshine Breaking Out Over The Sky

new-brighton-1239724.jpg

Sunshine breaking out over the sky
Cautious in preparation to be red
Warmth colouring your crystal eyes
Wrapped in those sacred words we said
Comfortable with the path to return
Incoherent love to forever please
Ensuring we will never again burn
Dreams built upon another with ease

I’ve Been Studying Your Rules

women-772666.jpg

I’ve been studying your rules
So I can break them to bits
I still don’t call myself a poet
But I always appreciated your tits
Your other toys have fancy degrees
Me -only a Velveteen soul that’s real
It’s battered, but not forever bitter
Just want to feel you again in the red heels

Poseurs, Pacifists & Poets Reek

beach-1031523

Poseurs, pacifists & poets reek
Sitting high on a lifeguard shack
Nighttime cloaked down upon us
Words in darkness never taken back
Ocean waves break the silence tonight
Only our thoughts to be heard otherwise
Isolation not what you thought it’d be
Tearing out your incessant broken eyes
Midnight sounds to be held on tight
A swim where you can never return
A fatigue to be felt deep down
Love exposed to moonlight will forever burn

Chewing On A Whale Bone

Chewing on a whale bone

A hero am I to be

Truth to be my own

Risky ventures to the sea

Dying since we were born

Break away from known ways

Take life by the horns

Find your own path home some day

Clocks ticking as we breathe

Do you know what you believe
