Maybe The Morning

Maybe the morning
Doesn’t; it just doesn’t have to be
You rise a little softer on that day
Emerging from a cocoon for me to see
Winter blankets fall away like nebulae
Taller than is expected from a Belle
Not so confident at first light
The arching sun; the pillory of hell
Stretching in my threadbare shirt
A shake of your hips
When first the brew hits your lips
But I want to watch
As you take another vainglorious sip

I See Your Gears Turning

alone-1422845.jpg

I see your gears turning
A scratch pad of juggled notes
My sassy blonde with such style
Throwing looks back, caught my throat
Lingering over the page
Like something I’m not sure of
Thoughts dripping into melting ice
Nothing as comfortable as confident love

None Of Us Are Immune To Heartbreak

woman-1517024.jpg

None of us are immune to heartbreak
We are fragile souls searching for peace
Never so confident, if we’re honest
I know I’m anxious with this life’s lease
But I have to keep waking up early
Start each morning watching the coffee drip
Long hours to make her life a little better
Hoping to end each one embraced in her lips

She’s Watching Me

She’s watching me
Trying to act shy & coy
She wants me to think
I’ll be her very first boy
She’s loving me
Sold on a negative trip
Acting so confident
Notice her exposed slip
She’s needing me
What a beautiful mess
Pick up her dreams
& her fallen dress
