When My Time Is Finished

viewpoint-3337274_1920.jpg

When my time is finished

You may say whatever you want about me

That I never grew up

That I contain no redeeming qualities

My words were hollow & juvenile

My attempts at piracy weren’t any good

But one thing will never be said

That I didn’t love her the best I could

Midnight Arrives In The Candlelight

love-3187623

Midnight arrives in the candlelight
My imagination takes over as before
Secretive scribbles in an unlit corner
Wine & a woman coaxing me for more
Uncertain of what we should divulge
An intrigue for sure, this darling flower
I’m intimidated, yet oddly disarmed
Casually containing remarkable brain power
A smart woman in a beautiful exterior
Society isn’t prepared for this conglomeration
But I know a woman is at her most alluring
When engaged in interesting conversation

I’m Not Who You Think I Am

sun-flower-1536088.jpg

I’m not who you think I am
A smooth operator along the Rhine
But Deutschland was so long ago
I’ve traded heartache for this sunshine
Your notions & guesses are invalid
I’m not who you’ve conjured in your head
Cannot be contained by your notions
I’m free to roam wild instead

Patron Saint Of Drunks & Losers

Patron saint of drunks & losers

Patrick forever look over me

Protect me from any harm

Whether I walk the land or sail the sea

Falling through each day a shell of a man

Visions of a woman out on a distant shore

My lifeless body contains a broken heart

Where love & blood beat no more

Questioning all those past decisions

I stand challenging the fair winds to blow

Somehow my soul needs to make it back

To discover that woman I used to know

The Sun Rises Softly

girl-622534.jpg

The sun rises softly
Wherever you may roam
A silent visage of hope
Even if you never return home
A reassuring countenance
There will always be one thing for sure
Tucking a truth for personal use
I’ll always contain a love that’s pure

I Won’t Judge You

john-work-garrett-library-211375.jpg

I won’t judge you for your past
I don’t care how your body looks
Inward – we all contain equal souls
We can all absorb the beauty of books
Go read! Fitzgerald, Kerouac, Twain
Emerson, Rand, Tolstoy, Hemingway
Thoreau, Dostoyevsky, Neruda, Yeats
Great words are forever here to stay
It is solely up to you
To build up your literary wealth
But I will constantly judge you
For the contents of your bookshelf
