Finding Glory In The Faces Of God’s People

Finding glory in the faces of God’s people
The creation of beauty is obviously Heaven sent
There’s no need to shy or even look away
A precious gift; There’s no need to repent
Our daily lives are usually a dire struggle
It’s plain as day, something we can all be sure
So much ugliness, it’s okay to give yourself a break
If love is fatal, let it be known, I don’t want the cure

Dreaming Of A Forgotten Summer

Dreaming of a forgotten summer

Youth; wild eyes & full of spice

The hope only the fresh may know

Never finding your innocence twice

The Good Lord blesses us daily

The sun’s warmth will always provide

Moments to bask, wading in the water

Burdens swept in the outgoing tide

Eyeing the inevitable future

Knowing we must make ourselves free

Standing strong with cheerful hearts

& worries washing themselves out to sea

Railroad Crossings Touch My Mind

train-2647352.jpg

Railroad crossings touch my mind
Worn jeans speckled with fading paint
Buddha found lying by the curb
Sorry ma’am, I’ve never been a saint
Life is an amazing gestation
There is nothing left to lose
Those stars have lost their luster
Welcome back home to live the blues
Daily life has never been easy
Always some sort of pain to endure
Demons breathing down your neck
Silently waiting for another liquid cure

Summer Comes Crashing Down Upon Us

girl-1562091.jpg

Summer comes crashing down upon us
The cliches of sunshine cannot be overstated
We grow warmer & friendlier in the heat
The smiles & the bright sky are interrelated
We’ve been bundled up for far too long
Fleeing society for the beaches to lessen stress
Stripping yourself of these daily burdens
Smelling of sweat & suntan lotion as we undress

We’re Dealing With Our Daily Struggles

We’re dealing with our daily struggles

Some are obviously much more dire

But no one can minimize your pain

There’s no sunshine when you’re in the mire

Facedown, it’s difficult to have any hope

But know darkness will eventually burn away

The fog will lift & you’ll see the light

The Lord will always bring you to another day

I’m An Old Man These Days

angel-314642.jpg

I’m an old man these days
With only memories to tell
Dreams have faded away
Leaving me little to dwell
But I can still remember
My wee friends at dawn
Months after December
The fairies & the Leprechauns
Without who I’d be forever lost
Standing mightily on my Shillelagh
At home with me until the first frost
Walking through the garden daily

A Known Quantity

technology-791029.jpg

A Known Quantity
Specific locale for every hair
Structured & sternly operated
Efficiently operating daily affairs
Beauty & grace not the question
But rather what’s the purpose here
Unattached without regret
Can love can flourish when it’s so severe
