Revisionist’s History Of Love

pinup-1586746.jpg

Revisionist’s history of love
A small takedown on the front lawn
Society’s matron’s clucking away
Whispers won’t counteract the dawn
She was an embarrassment of riches
Maintaining a look, polished & dapper
She fell in love with images of marble
Though remaining Fitz’s Lost Little Flapper
Never man enough between her sheets
Circumspect when they found her on the grass
A little more disheveled than she preferred
Especially with that skirt that couldn’t cover her ass

The Truth Will Come Out

black-white-1360640.jpg

The truth will come out
No matter how smart your suit
The dapper gentleman smirks
While the intelligent man remains mute
You can add all your security details
But the shadows know how to silently hide
You can announce your own loyalties
But you’ll never truly know who’s on your side
The night is behold to nothing tangible
So, keep your secrets & allow them to theirs
You are stronger than they care to acknowledge
Keep a weather eye ahead; don’t meddle in their affairs

We Can Choose To Be Who We Wish

We can choose to be who we wish
Or we can try to be something we’re not
But the Earth keeps spinning around
Illusion or otherwise, this one’s gonna be hot
But I want to be something a little more real
To live authentically in spite of society’s pressure
I will not be goaded into buying demeaning products
I’ll remain true & gentlemanly as I stay a dapper dresser

You Don’t Know Me

wedding-1338035.jpg

You don’t know me
You’re thinking an intellectual heavyweight
You’re imagining prestigious scrolls
But I’m still the Pirate they love to hate
A dapper fellow with impeccable manners
A literary tongue that makes the ladies shout
But I’m really a boring guy
A mere freshman dropout
