Passion Failing All Around Me

Passion failing all around me
We’re all exposed on the battleground
Hearts breaking wide open
Sketchy footing, leaving the night unsound
Cautiously looking out into the world
I’m safely behind doors & my windowpane
A vicious society who always destroys
Forcing love to wither & die in vain
Cherishing the woman I’ll forever desire
Who wears my great-grandmother’s ring
Upon us to ensure it doesn’t happen here
With her in my arms, I’ll always I’ll cling

I’m Tired, Weary, Fatigued, However You Want To Call It

nature-2576510_1920.jpg

I’m tired, weary, fatigued, however you want to call it
This world is tearing itself apart, with no end in sight
Neighbors can’t stand the appearance of each other
If we don’t swerve, we’re all going to face the fiery night
Reject hate, reject them, reject the world’s system
I don’t care if kindness long ago went out of fashion
Don’t accept your options, make your own way
We need return to art, return to love & compassion
‘They’ are anyone who’ll tell you we can’t survive
Without stooping down to unconscionable degrees
Rebel, refuse & reclaim enlightenment & love
Lead ourselves away from their dysfunctional societies
God reserves a place in Hell for those who spout hate
Whether you believe in Christ or what Buddha taught
Love doesn’t see the differences between us
We can do better; a peaceful way must be sought
Politicians are no more than door to door salesmen
Fraudulent purveyors of the American dreamscape
But we, the silent underground, emerging each day
Fed up with their vision, proof that heroes don’t wear capes

I’m Not Like Your Other Suitors

wedding-018

I’m not like your other suitors
A gentleman of old school tastes
Properly courting such a fine lady
Anything less would sure be a waste
I’ll open doors & treat you like a queen
I’m the most courteous pirate yet
The duality of differing traits
But I’m the sexiest Pan you ever met

Words Keep Me Buoyed

man-1209537.jpg

Words keep me buoyed
Sanity sifted, then promptly returned
Thought processes turned on end
Satisfaction smells like salty sunburns
But we were born out of time
Scribbles & poems don’t mean anything anymore
But to a few hidden scoundrels
The fringe of society behind unmarked doors

Pretty Girls Are Pennies By A Dozen

body-1303770.jpg

Pretty girls are pennies by a dozen
Beauty is fickle, you better have more
Please don’t come with the same story
Leave your tired past at the door
Say something to make me feel alive
You’ve always spurned life by chance
One day the clocks will fall upon you
Free yourself, purposefully; not by happenstance

Neglected Rose On These Midnight Streets

woman-1031507.jpg

Neglected rose on these midnight streets
Finding myself detached from all other souls
Close to something which resembles an answer
No need to guide me, I already know the holes
I’ve already left, did you notice I was gone
I return to myself, closing all windows & doors
You may know where I am
But you don’t know what I have in store

Perpetual Time Lumbering On

underwear-172118.jpg

Perpetual time lumbering on
Your heart beats with each tick of the clock
A tiny desk lamp illuminating the room
Silent door upon no one knocks
Staring off into forgotten lore
Heaters no match for a winter’s night
Sitting removed in only underwear
Repel this world of justified fright
Questioning all the spoken reasons
Unlit candles calling out my name
Clinking together, so I turn my head
Hush, let us not speak about this shame

Ill Reputed Minstrel & Her Fancy Dolls

dancer-864394.jpg

Ill reputed minstrel & her fancy dolls
Forever punished for my dated sin
A hushed wish for something more
Images of the whiteness of porcelain
Do not lead me through vacant doors
No need to become another mistake
Removed from that dreadful life
Sparing additional pain for her sake
Dancing lightly in the darkness
Admiring her spinning gown
Incapable of resisting delicate charms
Would do anything to replace that frown

Hell Can Wait, For I’ve Got More To Do

sleeping-1159279

Hell can wait, for I’ve got more to do
Waking to black birded cries this morning
Sore eyes littered with midnight dreams
Waking to a shattered world without warning
Knowing more than any man should know
Wanting to save you, but I don’t have the right
Hushed voices upon my broken doors
Please don’t question my fragile might
Pushing off from your delicate terrors
This world has never been so murky & deep
But I will try again to rest my weary head
I will try again to fall peacefully asleep
