Railroad Crossings Touch My Mind

Railroad crossings touch my mind
Worn jeans speckled with fading paint
Buddha found lying by the curb
Sorry ma’am, I’ve never been a saint
Life is an amazing gestation
There is nothing left to lose
Those stars have lost their luster
Welcome back home to live the blues
Daily life has never been easy
Always some sort of pain to endure
Demons breathing down your neck
Silently waiting for another liquid cure

Knowing The Sun Will Shine Again

fountain-pen-1102916.jpg

Knowing the sun will shine again
I sit here basking in the midnight air
A quiet sip from my enduring courage
Thinking naughty thoughts of my lady fair
Knowing I can’t sleep when I can write
I fall back into my imaginative stupor
Only to be shook by the dawn’s yawn
Daylight kicks me swift, right in the pooper

A Cup Of Coffee Sounds Mighty Nice

cafe-768771.jpg

A cup of coffee sounds mighty nice

Talking away hours in the sun

Warmth after this long cold winter

Experiences overall count as one

Coming times to start all over

No need to hesitate or soften your walk

Forced feelings fall a little short

Take time & measure when you talk

A friend is a friend forever

But be weary as not to injure

Broken hearts never quite heal

Through a loving soul will always endure

The Rose Grew Up In Treacherous Soil

young-girl-531252The rose grew up in treacherous soil

One in which most would recoil

This little rose endured all the pain

And grew stronger with each drop of rain

Its health soared with the sun’s rays

And this increased with each passing day

This luscious red rose became too pure

In came evils in which there is no cure

Protection was never even a thought

They came in with their goals to rot

The rose was attacked and made very weak

A way to survive, it did seek

So, around this sweet rose, a patch of thorns did grow

It grew thicker and deeper than anyone could know

The thorns became so thick they blocked the water and sun

The drops of water that reached the rose became none

The sun’s loving rays, it could no longer see

This beautiful red rose tried to break free

It soon realized that it was a victim of its own organic cage

And it would sit there and die amongst the thorns and sage
