Perhaps We Should Outlaw Hate?

Perhaps we should outlaw hate
Tired of them dictating our actions
Forcing us to fear living normal lives
Their bombs & their guns desire immediate redaction
Appeasement never worked in the past
We can’t survive by filling rifles with flowers
But I never want to hate like my enemy
Somehow, a united front is needed by the World Powers
But I reckon they’ll continue to squabble
Letting every opportunity pass on by
Their egos reinforced by their Cold War arsenals
But the truth remains, how many more innocents have to die?

Lovely Flowers/Well Intentioned

entrepreneur-593357.jpg

Lovely flowers/well intentioned
Nothing to replace frigid remorse
A broken vase with contents spilled
Life mistook its proper course
Banging away at the languid keys
Trying to create some tranquility
Which one left in stagnate appeal
Can’t escape your own responsibility

While We Were Off Sleeping

While we were off sleeping
The rains whipped themselves up in a squall
The flowers rose from their dormant stature
We were left to discover what never was at all
Stripped away our delinquent delusions
Forced to find the truth of this precipitation
Life is a fragile balance of our dreams
Love draws us close while fusing our imaginations

Feelin’ Alright In Your Tight Pink Shirt

ship-963239.jpg

Feelin’ alright in your tight pink shirt
Released in a shower down on Haight
Life-altering love spread between us
As we passed under the Golden Gate

Sweet summer flowers rising as I wake
Between coffeehouses on Avenue Nine
You never left my roaming thoughts
Always kept me warm in the sunshine

Walking silently together in the park
Remembering you fondly now as I jog
The weather never dampened my spirits
That old carousel rotating through the fog

Trees shade the bench where you shared
Words of peace, marked by a longing kiss
My view no longer holds ravenous beauty
Freedom wasn’t supposed to be like this
