Finding Glory In The Faces Of God’s People

Finding glory in the faces of God’s people
The creation of beauty is obviously Heaven sent
There’s no need to shy or even look away
A precious gift; There’s no need to repent
Our daily lives are usually a dire struggle
It’s plain as day, something we can all be sure
So much ugliness, it’s okay to give yourself a break
If love is fatal, let it be known, I don’t want the cure

Watching The Condensation Seep Into The Desk

Watching the condensation seep into the desk
I think of the glories that have gone away
The ice melting/mixing into my single malt
I’ve been nervous, but I’m okay by the end of the day
These days weren’t the ones we’ve been dreaming of
Idealistic thoughts when we were on foreign shores
Imagining celebrities dancing inter formalwear
Fancy & festive role models displayed forevermore
Upon the big screen & locked into our minds
Americana lost & the golden age of Hollywood
Stoking the passion of our fervid imaginations
Inspiring our dreams like nothing else ever could
Our hopes & desires abandoned & hung out to dry
Stark realization our fantasies are mere celluloid
The cold night, withering on the streets alone
Upon the credits, leaving the theater broke & into the void

There’s Something To Be Said For Going Outside

There’s something to be said for going outside
Wallowing in the dirt, smearing it on your skin
Returning your soul to the Earth, to be truly free
There’s only one life; you’ve got to get it in
Remove society’s reign over your instincts
Dance unhindered; strip & frolic completely bare
Be at peace with the natural world’s glory
Stand proudly and let your nips feel the harvest air

Winters Along The Chesapeake

beach-461273_1920.jpg

Winters along the Chesapeake
Listening to the elder’s snarling tales
Tough men looking for far gone battles
Filling their minds with wine & war sails
The triumphs of fictional characters
Can never be overstated to a fool
Blinded by a word’s sleight of hand
The mind left to unconsciously unspool
The darker corners are always inhabited
Produced marvels of unshrinking power
Weathervanes swirling from their time
Nursing pain amid their legendary glower
Survivors influencing the next generations
Of country boys wanting to go to sea
Dreaming of illusive glory & vindication
But they’ll only find heartache & misery

I’m Not Some Hero To Call Upon

IMG_1288.jpg

I’m not some hero to call upon
Just a simple man, wanting to go home
Bracing against these salty winds
Reoccurring themes to this syndrome
I know where all the good stuff is
Needing my love at the end of each day
Counting white caps dancing in the water
There’s nothing complicated in my DNA
This ship slowing with her icy sails
Wishing to return to warmth all the more
Searching for glory towards the True North
But my heart was left with her back on the shore

Speeding Through Green Lights

sunrise-1582670.jpg

Speeding through green lights
Welcoming the rites of Spring
A warm day to rise & smile
Walk softly & listen to the birds sing
A fiddle & bagpipes call out
Traits of hope & smiles in the air
Release the frustration of Winter
Be free; dance out in your underwear
Feel the heat of the morning sun
Pour yourself an early glass of wine
Stretch out with a wink for me
Bare skin kissed by the glorious sunshine

I’d Trade All These Gold Doubloons

I’d trade all these gold doubloons

For another morning with you

Tasting your sweet nectar

Inspiring the day to be fresh & new

I don’t want fame nor glory

I just want to be naked under the covers

Satisfying & emotionally preparing you

Sending you out into the world; a happy lover

Let Us Focus On Love

sisters-1328070

Let us focus on love
Expel their notions of hate
I won’t let them affect me
I’ll set the standards for my fate
This life won’t last forever
The glories in Heaven surely await
But for now, I’m going to be compassion
To take care of the people – HOPE we’ll create

Don’t Tell Me Stories Of The Righteous

landscape-768556.jpg

Don’t tell me stories of the righteous
I don’t want to hear of infatuated glories
My hope dwindles & my cynicism rebounds
Whenever your lips utter their sponsored stories
I’ll let you rule the ruins of dilapidated society
Your politicians ran amok, forcing common core math
I’ll retire into the wilderness to write my manifesto
Be forewarned; if you harm my loves, you’ll feel my wrath
