Too Cautious For That Rabbit Hole

tea-party-1138912.jpg

The slow silent flattery
Worming it’s way into your ear
Unsure of calculated intent
If you should accept it with fear
Or allow it to swell up & be free
Not much left of your personal pride
Life has chipped away at it
Sinking into a cowering stride

Too cautious for that rabbit hole
But you’re better than that
Deep down you truly know

How much effort have you spent
To be contrary & constantly ignore
The world as it whispers lovely words
Snippets of charm floating to the floor
Standing at an arms distance
Not believing yourself to be Alice
Or any of the princesses of yore
Never dreaming of a shining palace

Too cautious for that rabbit hole
But you’re better than that
Deep down you truly know

Never a confidence
Feeling temptations of the weak
They’re just simple words
Hoping to give an outlook a tweak
Not meant to encumber
Or ransack your existence
But you can’t hinder the words
& their slow penetrating insistence

Staring Into A Blank Page

man-505353.jpg

Staring into a blank page
Where can we take this from here
Will you support an unattractive soul
Will I always find friends of good cheer
I question the future as if it weren’t sold
Please tell me we still have a chance to be free
I type out thoughts that you might never know
But throughout time & space, you’ve meant more to me

Thinking You Were A Little Bit Off

person-1281768.jpg

Thinking you were a little bit off
Wishing for the future to materialize
Not wishing to wrap you in their arms
Some not meant for their prying eyes
The status lingering on the walls
Set aside from the accepted chorus
Realization of the ugliness around
Not always a proper moment for us

Trespassed On A Delicate Shore

andromeda-279797.jpg

Trespassed on a delicate shore
Holding words meant to disclose
Deliberate voices left on the floor
Sternly bright with shades of a rose
The angels always knew where to go
Savagely speaking without falsehood
Tiny steps always right & thorough
Being gentle wont do you any good

Her Scent

woman-1149909.jpg

My sweatshirt still lingers with her scent
Pondering what all the flirting meant
Remembering the clouds glowing from the lights
Sitting on the hood, enjoying her company that night
I can still see her –  with her long blonde hair
She looked so beautiful standing out there
