These Pages Are My Refuge

hands-1373363.jpg

These pages are my refuge
The simplest often seem best
I cannot hide my heart
I will not keep it close to the vest
These words are my soul
I will not hide them behind a mask
I will not conform to society
No matter how many times they might ask

You Don’t Think You’re Beautiful

woman-1320810

You don’t think you’re beautiful
Because of the pain you feel inside
Existence finds itself with a teetering lull
The path to happiness merely not identified
But you need to write your own dreams
Never settle for what others might demand
Seek out adventure & self-discovery
Find the surprising beauty of the unplanned

Let Me Paint Your Lips Red

redlips.jpg

Let me paint your lips red
The quiet pampering into the night
Let me whisper your possibilities
Popping each button in the flattering light
Silhouettes upon the fresh bedsheets
Mere ideals of what we might be
My body aching for another touch
Your kiss; the only thing to set me free

I’m An Old Man These Days

angel-314642.jpg

I’m an old man these days
With only memories to tell
Dreams have faded away
Leaving me little to dwell
But I can still remember
My wee friends at dawn
Months after December
The fairies & the Leprechauns
Without who I’d be forever lost
Standing mightily on my Shillelagh
At home with me until the first frost
Walking through the garden daily

This Head Won’t Be Controlled

IMG_0250.JPG

This head won’t be controlled
There’s no way you can tame
Wild by its very nature
Sweet by any other name
Don’t judge me, lady
Savage, feral & barbaric for sure
My words might be, but my
Hair’s anything but demure

Hell Can Wait, For I’ve Got More To Do

sleeping-1159279

Hell can wait, for I’ve got more to do
Waking to black birded cries this morning
Sore eyes littered with midnight dreams
Waking to a shattered world without warning
Knowing more than any man should know
Wanting to save you, but I don’t have the right
Hushed voices upon my broken doors
Please don’t question my fragile might
Pushing off from your delicate terrors
This world has never been so murky & deep
But I will try again to rest my weary head
I will try again to fall peacefully asleep
