In Today’s Cruel World

In today’s cruel world
Is it okay to be happy or even smile or grin
Will you tolerate me if I’m not depressed
Or must I hate myself from deep down within
Is it kosher if I happen to love my wife
Or dote upon my daughters along the way
But I won’t be judged for being content
God gave us sunshine to bask in the light of day

I Know What I Want To Say

people-2591772_1920.jpg

I know what I want to say
Don’t want to come off as a creep
I’ll keep my thoughts to myself
Though I can’t help to take a peek
You’re beautiful & make me smile
I hear your laugh resonate
I wish I could tell you my truth
But propriety makes me hesitate

Neglected Rose On These Midnight Streets

woman-1031507.jpg

Neglected rose on these midnight streets
Finding myself detached from all other souls
Close to something which resembles an answer
No need to guide me, I already know the holes
I’ve already left, did you notice I was gone
I return to myself, closing all windows & doors
You may know where I am
But you don’t know what I have in store

A Modern Day Philosopher

A modern day philosopher
Hiding away from the crowd
Society – a poison leeching
Anxiety – they’re far too loud
Finding a simple spot
A place to quietly write
Thoughts, words into deeds
To be myself without a fight
