A Fine Suited Man With Terrible Inklings

kiss-1858088_1920.jpg

A fine suited man with terrible inklings
Hands on her shoulders; easy to confide
Pouring drinks & erasing her sadness
Falling by the wayside with time & tide
Beauty is merely a natural configuration
Each button gone, an uncontrollable urge
His intentions told with a silent tongue
Embraced & now they lovingly merge

Tonight We’re Going To Step On Out

person-801899_1280.jpg

Tonight we’re going to step on out
Letting the cool breeze touch our souls
Watching the darkness quietly creep in
Holding hands as we take gentle pulls
The whiskey settles into a familiar burn
Nothing remaining but what we are
Excluding the day’s negative traits
Naturally only wearing the glow from the stars

We’re Allowing The Modern World To Dwindle

woman-1466236_1920.jpg

We’re allowing the modern world to dwindle
We’ve neglected love & now slowly it dies
Crashing back to from where it came
We’ve messed up this most recent of our tries
A fragmented society in this world of hate
Our streets filled with torch bearing vigilantes
But I’m choosing compassion & joy
I’d rather chase you around in your scanties

Penning Out Frivolous Odes

mar-1203345_1920.jpg

Penning out frivolous odes
Words creating a comforting feeling
An itch that needs to be remedied
Turning bland into rather appealing
It’s not complicated to be good
If you can fathom what I mean
The distractions tend to be mirages
Ghosts preventing you from being clean

Winters Along The Chesapeake

beach-461273_1920.jpg

Winters along the Chesapeake
Listening to the elder’s snarling tales
Tough men looking for far gone battles
Filling their minds with wine & war sails
The triumphs of fictional characters
Can never be overstated to a fool
Blinded by a word’s sleight of hand
The mind left to unconsciously unspool
The darker corners are always inhabited
Produced marvels of unshrinking power
Weathervanes swirling from their time
Nursing pain amid their legendary glower
Survivors influencing the next generations
Of country boys wanting to go to sea
Dreaming of illusive glory & vindication
But they’ll only find heartache & misery

Perhaps I’m A Bit More Prudish

abdominal-1920997_1920.jpg

Perhaps I’m a bit more prudish

Than I ever expected myself to be

Shying away from their exhibitions

Folding my soul back into propriety

Maybe I’m not as cool as you thought

I’m more of a meandering old fellow

Writing out lines of cautious fantasy

Whereas reality reveals itself to be rather mellow

I See You’re Feeling Sassy

I see you’re feeling sassy
Now it is time for you to kneel
Pour us another cup of tea, Dear
Your lace details for me to feel
There’s a swing to your strut
Moments of electric bliss to share
Finding pleasure within serving
Another tea party in our underwear

I Like Foreplay

grapefruit-1385564.jpg

I like foreplay

My chance to slowly deliberate

To uncover the forever unseen

Primal urges for me to manipulate

I can take you to your dreams

Your precious time I’ll never waste

Delaying gratification untold hours

I need to savor my favorite taste

Forgiving The Passionate Hubris

railway-2439189_1920.jpg

Forgiving the passionate hubris

The least fractured figment of my ire

But I’m not competing for affection

Denounced for their fateful friendly fire

So I’m taking the eastbound train

To remove myself from the glitterati

The Urban gentry called for my death

Betrayed by those who are rash & haughty

The train tumbles on through the rain

Steaming towards the next Highland city

Needing a respite from those judgements

From the girls who love to be called pretty

False Attempts At The Old Scottish Jig

scotland-1987599_1920.jpg

False attempts at the old Scottish jig
Distant past lingering – nothing wise
She was never the heroine you always needed
Finally gave up after all those tries
Beauty’s eye was never truly blind
Having been lied to, left you distraught
Perpetual cycles now cold & mean
Never the quality you had always thought
Smile inward, you are the crowned victor
Playing their game with the cards dealt
Karma worms its way into a deserving soul
They’ll never know how your true love felt
