The Government Wants To Lock Me Up

forest-1245692_1920

The government wants to lock me up
For I don’t fit into their diabolic plans
Turning society into robotic morons
I just can’t continue to work for The Man

Trying to sell us artificial stimulants
Fickle airwaves with their bully pulpit bought
Falsified histories & professional victims
The system wipes us away without any thought

Pharmaceutical conglomerates tell us
Conscience is a personality disorder we can’t shake
Turning our daughters into Stepford Wives
Stealing our minds – hoping we’ll never wake

Corporations in league with the dolt on the throne
Continuously embarrassing the whole of humankind
Whose agenda has a limited number of characters
How the hell is this the best choice we could find

But I won’t succumb to any of their devices
I’ll take my liberty and the happiness I’ve pursued
Rejecting the crooks & ignoring their feigned power
Won’t find me in Nurse Rachet’s line; docile & queued

I can’t live a life that’s so blatantly false & empty
My soul is no longer pristine, but I’m an honest guy
I’m taking to the wilderness; leaving the State behind
I’m trading their promises for a more natural high

I Cannot Help But Stare

lost-places-1623051_1920.jpg

I cannot help but stare
Pure hatred in those eyes
A lifetime of judgement
Whispering a torrent of lies
I don’t want to believe them
I’m tired of this rejection
I’ve been beaten & battered
I no longer need my reflection

We Used To Know The Truths

people-2575608.jpg

We used to know the truths
The fundamentals of our lives
Misplaced inspiration in youth
We, the lost children, who survived
Abandoned by artists searching for gold
Forgetting the dream of accepting yourself
Never admitting we’ve grown this old
Rejection of impending imperial wealth
Fuck your Republicans & Democrats
Those who sold the vision with betrayal
Insensitive bastards of the Cheshire Cat
Unsteady appeasement & divided we fail

Speeding Down 9A

dames-point-bridge-1768738.jpg

Speeding down 9A
I’m pushing 85
Too early in the day
With coffee keeping me alive
Tom Petty ‘Won’t Back Down’
Sun peeking over palms
That rock ‘n’ roll soun’
I really have no qualms
Embrace love – reject hate
Life along the St. John’s River
Another chance to create
Now is the time I must deliver

*I wrote this a year ago and it felt proper to repost it after we lost a legend. It feels even more painful now that I’m back in his home state of Florida.

Tired Of The Ancient Traditions

boardwalk-1783843.jpg

Tired of the ancient traditions
Feeling scared of former neglect
Provocations of patriarchy’s past
Though, I’m here to firmly reject
Everything outside of our union
Reallocating life to its proper size
Knocking over their pedestals myself
Escaping from undutiful, prying eyes

Be Proud Of Your Rebellion

black-and-white-1031685.jpg

Be proud of your rebellion
Let them etch your name of the scroll
Do not hide in the shadows
For they’re still coming for your soul
Stand up boldly in disapproval
For they can’t silence every voice
Rise up in robust rejection
Protest their very system while you have a choice
Do not wait – for the end could be near
Only through our absolute unity can we fight
They’re all the same – ass or pachyderm
They’ll bleed us dry if we can’t unite

I’m Not A Fan Of This World

urban-1513868.jpg

I’m not a fan of this world
The treachery & expanding hate
The lies, corruption & pure evil
All deciding our collective fate
But I won’t cast my lots with them
I’d much rather go it alone
No one represents me but my own words
I reject their claims to the American throne

It’s Warfare Upon Your Dreams

mountain-1336432.jpg

It’s warfare upon your dreams
Your soul is in the line of fire
External forces aiming carefully
& the consequences are to be dire
Reject their hatred & pandering
Their lies breed contempt & you’re the pawn
Think for yourself before they regulate
Brainwashing & your mindwaves redrawn
