Drifting Into A Summer’s Day

Drifting into a Summer’s day
Trying to settle into the shade
This heat rose early & won’t quit
Hoping it won’t cause my soul to fade
I’m sipping a cold one in my hammock
Thinking of that woman who’s soul is kind
Makes her embed into my heart
& I can’t get her off my weary mind
I remember walking along the bay
Tossing coins wrapped in wishes on the pier
Holding her hand, forever to be Homeward Bound
Only when you lose someone so, do you know fear
But hope & faith can make miracles happen
If you believe strong enough to persist
To be forever within her passionate grip
To taste her primal fire, my sole reason to exist

Where Do You Want To Be

Where do you want to be
Life on an isolated island of sand
Sunshine beaming down to kiss your skin
Throwing out all the dreams they had planned
Turn your back on their expectations of your soul
Take time to love yourself before time expires
No one will care about you like you need to
Shun the shade; feel the passion of the sun’s fire

Trespassed On A Delicate Shore

andromeda-279797.jpg

Trespassed on a delicate shore
Holding words meant to disclose
Deliberate voices left on the floor
Sternly bright with shades of a rose
The angels always knew where to go
Savagely speaking without falsehood
Tiny steps always right & thorough
Being gentle wont do you any good

Feelin’ Alright In Your Tight Pink Shirt

ship-963239.jpg

Feelin’ alright in your tight pink shirt
Released in a shower down on Haight
Life-altering love spread between us
As we passed under the Golden Gate

Sweet summer flowers rising as I wake
Between coffeehouses on Avenue Nine
You never left my roaming thoughts
Always kept me warm in the sunshine

Walking silently together in the park
Remembering you fondly now as I jog
The weather never dampened my spirits
That old carousel rotating through the fog

Trees shade the bench where you shared
Words of peace, marked by a longing kiss
My view no longer holds ravenous beauty
Freedom wasn’t supposed to be like this

Fell Out Of Another Sailor Bar

Fell out of another sailor bar

Pacific islands; dripping with sweat

The emotionally desperate & the forever lonely

‘Twas never a more perfectly matched set

A pocketful of money & nothing else to do

Looking for Salvation under the scarce shade

Nothing found but stale tobacco scents

A few more coins to avoid this here blade

A different life at the world’s end

Not used to walking upon the steady rock

Enjoy this time of watched freedom

Best stumble back before the end of the clock

The Lovers Loved & The Dreamers Dreamed

trees-692334

The lovers loved & the dreamers dreamed

The world doesn’t exist beyond my little stream

No more rushing about, no more hectic pace

I could sit here forever at this peaceful place

I fed my watch to the water & watched time sink

Under this shade tree I have nothing to do but think

Now I can truly see life & how it’s supposed to be

I can focus now & have my thoughts taken to sea
