Manifestos Of The Uprising

desk-2158142_1920.jpg

Manifestos of the uprising
Those who can no longer stay away
Knowing the tough road ahead
Highway stories of former days
Hateful & silent is no way to live
Bottled up with all that evil inside
Need to release the toxins & corruption
Or get washed away in the rising tide

This Isn’t An Existence Made Of Promises

eye-143481_1920.jpg

This isn’t an existence made of promises
All this is shorter than we want to admit
The futility of hate & anger is obvious
Yet you ignore reality with your juvenile fit
Humans are endowed with a soul beyond reason
You cannot treat people this way; as mere sheep
A truth inherent to rising consciousness
We fell, but we’re no longer so very deep
There are those who want us to remain callow
To never again straighten ourselves & finally rise
Powers who wish we’d leave our cash & walk away
No longer silent & we once again find our open eyes

I’m Tired, Weary, Fatigued, However You Want To Call It

nature-2576510_1920.jpg

I’m tired, weary, fatigued, however you want to call it
This world is tearing itself apart, with no end in sight
Neighbors can’t stand the appearance of each other
If we don’t swerve, we’re all going to face the fiery night
Reject hate, reject them, reject the world’s system
I don’t care if kindness long ago went out of fashion
Don’t accept your options, make your own way
We need return to art, return to love & compassion
‘They’ are anyone who’ll tell you we can’t survive
Without stooping down to unconscionable degrees
Rebel, refuse & reclaim enlightenment & love
Lead ourselves away from their dysfunctional societies
God reserves a place in Hell for those who spout hate
Whether you believe in Christ or what Buddha taught
Love doesn’t see the differences between us
We can do better; a peaceful way must be sought
Politicians are no more than door to door salesmen
Fraudulent purveyors of the American dreamscape
But we, the silent underground, emerging each day
Fed up with their vision, proof that heroes don’t wear capes

A Fine Suited Man With Terrible Inklings

kiss-1858088_1920.jpg

A fine suited man with terrible inklings
Hands on her shoulders; easy to confide
Pouring drinks & erasing her sadness
Falling by the wayside with time & tide
Beauty is merely a natural configuration
Each button gone, an uncontrollable urge
His intentions told with a silent tongue
Embraced & now they lovingly merge

Railroad Crossings Touch My Mind

train-2647352.jpg

Railroad crossings touch my mind
Worn jeans speckled with fading paint
Buddha found lying by the curb
Sorry ma’am, I’ve never been a saint
Life is an amazing gestation
There is nothing left to lose
Those stars have lost their luster
Welcome back home to live the blues
Daily life has never been easy
Always some sort of pain to endure
Demons breathing down your neck
Silently waiting for another liquid cure

I’m A Reluctant Sailor At Best

manipulation-1875815.jpg

I’m a reluctant sailor at best
Life on the seas – a mere charade
A pirate’s life hasn’t panned out
Reflecting poor choices once made
But now I must focus on the task
Secrets of love hidden within the tome
Writing out the heart’s silent pain
It’s all I can do until I arrive home

There’s A Beautiful Woman I Know

uss-chung-hoon-555756.jpg

There’s a beautiful woman I know
She’s waiting for me on the shore
The letters say she’s been lonely
Don’t want her to feel it anymore
I close my eyes & silently plead
Please Captain, full steam ahead
‘Cause I got a lady back home
& She’s waiting for me in our bed
