I’m Tired Of All The Mouthpieces & Talking Heads

I’m tired of all the mouthpieces & talking heads
I don’t trust anything on the network news
Congress & corporations are intertwined
Aimed at denying our dreams, if they could choose
But I’m not going to buy into their systems
I’m not going to line up for them to call me by name
We have to figure out a better way
Or we’ll all be taken under by institutionalized shame
I don’t want to live in a world propelled by evil
I believe this hateful environment is only getting hotter
Can we not view our neighbors as equals
What kind of world are we leaving for our daughters?

You Don’t See It

You don’t see it
The boys not getting enough sleep
Those who have abandoned their homes
Keeping watch over the watery deep
You don’t see it
Those who dream of something better
Youth sacrificing blindly
Riding the tide, salt spray getting wetter
You don’t see it
Loading sea bags in early morning hours
Walking the gangplank in the face of fear
Trusting their lives to a Greater Power

*This is dedicated to the boys & girls who voluntarily leave the comfort of a normal life to do something different. We all have our reasons for why we’re here. I humbly thank those who have come before me, those standing next to me and those who will carry on the watch after my time is complete.

Stalking Campus Coffee Shops

Stalking campus coffee shops

Finding those of intellectual pursuits

The good smells of stimulation

& these lonely ladies in pantsuits

But I’ll settle in beside them

Thinking of proper words to recite

Turning mistrust into lust

Dangling soft words for them to bite

Feed My Soul With Rock & Roll

Feed my soul with rock & roll
I need you to turn up the noise
The raw & dirty guitar licks
You tried to seduce little rich boys
My heart broke in the shadows
Don’t tell me to relax, I’m out of proportion
You’re a cruel woman, ya know
I’m gonna need to turn up the distortion
I feel ridiculous for trusting you
Gimme that dial, I want it loud
Let me forget my woes tonight
& that I’ve been before this soulless crowd

Gimme A Minute Till I Look Pretty

Gimme a minute till I look pretty
I don’t want to go out there without my cologne
I can’t deal with the sketchy people
You know, they’ve hidden away all the pay phones
I don’t trust the Gov’t hiding behind rain coats
The shadows are weary with their demodulation
Open your windows to the rain – expect justice
I shall bare my raw breast in hopes of emotional rehabilitation

Looking Perfect In Your Pretty Pink Pumps

Looking perfect in your pretty pink pumps

My heart broke the day I laid eyes on you

Feeling the disaster coming from far away

Disregarding independence declared to be true

Went away from all my trusted instincts

Drove right into your dream head first

Which instance did I do anything right

Ever since I’ve been dying in the desert of thirst
