This Isn’t An Existence Made Of Promises

This isn’t an existence made of promises
All this is shorter than we want to admit
The futility of hate & anger is obvious
Yet you ignore reality with your juvenile fit
Humans are endowed with a soul beyond reason
You cannot treat people this way; as mere sheep
A truth inherent to rising consciousness
We fell, but we’re no longer so very deep
There are those who want us to remain callow
To never again straighten ourselves & finally rise
Powers who wish we’d leave our cash & walk away
No longer silent & we once again find our open eyes

I See Her Light’s Still On

lake-3050177_1920.jpg

I see her light’s still on
Looking down at my worn shoes
I’m not much to look at
Continuing on with only my blues
To lose
I wish I could speak to her
Maybe I will, one of these days
But she only ever sees that…
I’m always walking away

Walking Down The Street On All Saints Day

Walking down the street on All Saints Day
Victrolas on display at the corner store
Aflirtatious greeting with the local beauty
She always smiles, but never asks for more
You’ve created another aura within her
Casting her a red-blooded in your pulp fantasy
A polite lady with those vicious high heels
Mental interludes without consent, it seems to me
Take your dreams & exit stage left
You tried to court &failed, life’s not fair
Let a true gentleman whisper elegant words
She’ll open up her passion, exposing her silky pair

The Summer Wasn’t All It Was Cracked Up To Be

The summer wasn’t all it was cracked up to be
The heat & humidity never completely subsided
Walking out amongst the wildflowers half-naked
Survived by nuzzling up to the woman I forever brided

*it’s still 80 degrees here.

I Didn’t Mean To Get Too Personal

frill-746127.jpg

I didn’t mean to get too personal
I merely noticed your exposed slip
My thoughts took me to uncharted waters
Thinking of us – alone- a subtle skinny dip
An abandoned wedding gown crumpled
The satin too white against your lace
I didn’t know what I was supposed to feel
Though I could see the muted joy in your face
You kicked off your heels & removed your gloves
Walking too close you whispered ‘yes’ to my surprise
I loosened my tie before you took charge
I’ll never forget how you looked with your laughing eyes

Here, Let Me Give You A Hand

tying-792104.jpg

Here, let me give you a hand
You don’t need your Ladies in Waiting
I could unstitch your mundane hours
Leaving you breathless & vibrating
We could take a walk – an adventure
If you’re up for some fun & romance
Your entire existence to be altered
If only you were willing to grant me a chance

Aroused By The Typewriter’s Bell

IMG_1335

Aroused by the typewriter’s bell

I’m salivating like Pavlov’s dog

Imagining caffeinated mornings

Walking the Sunset within the fog

Though those were forgotten emotions

I’m not able to repeat that form

So I do my best to feel the original

Sometimes I’m hard to notice before the storm

Speeding Through Green Lights

sunrise-1582670.jpg

Speeding through green lights
Welcoming the rites of Spring
A warm day to rise & smile
Walk softly & listen to the birds sing
A fiddle & bagpipes call out
Traits of hope & smiles in the air
Release the frustration of Winter
Be free; dance out in your underwear
Feel the heat of the morning sun
Pour yourself an early glass of wine
Stretch out with a wink for me
Bare skin kissed by the glorious sunshine

Do Not Be Afraid Of Your Strength

backlight-909120.jpg

Do not be afraid of your strength
Learn to love yourself & all forms
There’s peace within the text
Embrace ideas as they swarm
Take a walk into the fields
Go further, down where the fairies reside
Take time to learn the dwarves’ names
When you return you’ll be bonafide
Write what your soul has digested
Tell us the stories living up within
Once you become young
That’s the exact moment life will begin

Finding A Smile In Anything

sisters-1287321.jpg

Finding a smile in anything
She laughs in colorful brightness
A flash of pure happy thoughts
The cool confidence in its lightness
A giggle to the approaching Summer
3 months of adventure lie ahead
You’re wanting passive, demure kids
Mine will cackle, make you walk the plank
